Glenwood Hot Springs Resort Awards $10,000 in Scholarships

Angelina Arce-Gallegos, Valerie Gomez and Omar Vergara are the latest recipients of the Glenwood Hot Springs Resort Higher Education Scholarship. This year, Glenwood Hot Springs Resort awarded a total of $10,000 in scholarships to three recipients selected from a pool of 53 applications submitted by exceptional students from area schools.

For 29 years running, Glenwood Hot Springs Resort has helped young people achieve their dreams through continued learning by awarding $263,000 in scholarships to deserving young people. The Glenwood Hot Springs Resort Higher Education Scholarship was created in 1995 to financially assist goal-oriented individuals attend accredited institutions of higher learning, including four-year colleges and universities, community colleges and trade schools. The scholarships are payable per semester over four years and require each recipient to be a student in good standing.

Valerie Gomez, a recent graduate of Glenwood Springs High School, received a $5,000 of the $10,000 in scholarships awarded by Glenwood Hot Springs Resort and plans to attend Colorado Mountain College. Her plans are to study elementary education before transferring to another school to finish her education. Gomez has been on the honor roll all four years of high school, served as a teaching assistant and completed extra academic classes in pre-calculus, language and composition, spanish language and culture, and hospitality. In addition, she has worked in the Grill and Snack Bar at the resort since June 2022 and leads children’s activities at her church. She is the daughter of Jose Gomez and Julia Gamboa of Glenwood Springs.

Angelina Arce-Gallegos was awarded a $3,000 scholarship and graduated from Coal Ridge High School. She will study accounting at Colorado Mountain College and has worked in the Grill at Glenwood Hot Springs Resort since July 2023. Arce-Gallegos is the daughter of Jose Renova and Lorena Gallegos of Silt.  

Omar Vergara also recently received his diploma from Coal Ridge High School and received a $2,000 scholarship for studying landscape architecture at Colorado Mountain College and University of New Mexico. Vergara has worked as a lifeguard at Glenwood Hot Springs Resort since November 2023 and is a team lead. He is the son of Omar and Cindy Vergara of Silt.  

Glenwood Hot Springs Resort is proud to award $10,000 in scholarships to these three outstanding students and employees who are pursuing higher education.
