For the second year in a row, people have been invited to submit love letters to Glenwood Hot Springs Resort in tandem with Valentine’s Day to create a little fun and nostalgia. Remember placing Valentine’s in classmates’ decorated boxes or paper sacks? The concept is the same, with a box placed in the pool lobby for submissions but with a QR code to encourage online letters, too.
Many letters reminisced about fond memories built with family and friends over the years as well as the soothing properties of the water. 350 love letters were submitted, and 13 lucky winners were announced on Feb. 16.
The grand prize winner, Cindy of Glenwood Springs, won the grand prize of an annual pool pass for the following poem.
Glenwood Hot Springs, How do I love thee, let me count the ways ...
I Love thee clean & shoveled parking lot as I walk into the building
I Love thee front desk employees who never fail to greet me by name
I Love thee locker room where it's warm and freshly stocked with clean towels, toiletries, and a mopped floor and clean showers.
I Love thee perfect pool temperature to swim, move, exercise and relax with friends new and old
I Love thee Hot Pool where I melt into a state of complete contentment even on a below freezing day.
Your staff is amazing in all they do from administration, to sales, to exercise classes.
My Love for thee is as pure as your water from the mountains Glenwood Hot Springs.
How do I Love Thee?
I Love thee completely. Happy Valentine’s Day!
Kim from Littleton, Colorado, won second prize for her letter “A love for Glenwood Hot Springs – 118 Years and Counting”, recalls how her grandmother was born in Glenwood Springs in 1904 and would fill her thermos with the pure mineral water in the little spring and swore by the health benefits. “She lived to be 96 so perhaps she was right! From the time I was 6 months old, I have enjoyed the Hot Springs … It has been fun to see the renovations and improvements over the years—we come at least once a year and always stay at the Lodge. Even when passing through, we always make time for a soak. I look forward to introducing my grandchildren to the Hot Springs for a 5th generation to treasure.”
In “Truth Serum,” Terry of Aurora, Colorado, ponders if the hot springs waters are magic and won third prize. “My husband and I often would come to Glenwood Hot Springs with our 3 kids for a mountain getaway from Denver. We began to notice something strange while floating around with them in the Big Pool ... they started talking to us and REALLY TELLING us what was going on in their life ... at school, at soccer and with friends. They told us their heart and their truth.”
Kim and Terry received $50 resort gift cards. The authors of 10 more love letters won either a one-day pass or a $25 resort gift card. Read all the top 13 letters here.
“We also had 10 kids that wrote in, and they will receive a free ice cream cone certificate, as the letters were too cute to not do something for them,” says Sales and Marketing Manager Jay Moore. “We appreciate all the amazing stories that were submitted to this contest. We were in awe of the submissions and are so glad Glenwood Hot Springs Resort is special part of peoples’ lives.”
A small business with big heart, Glenwood Hot Springs Resort has been serving locals and visitors from across the U.S. and world since 1888.
