Toast New Year’s Eve in Glenwood Springs

If celebrating New Year’s Eve in a charming Colorado mountain community featuring the world’s largest hot springs pool sounds magical, you are correct! Glenwood Springs pulls out all the stops for people of all ages to celebrate the changeover to a new calendar year. 

Here’s a glimpse at what is happening at Glenwood Hot Springs Resort and around town on Dec. 31, 2024, as well as on Dec. 28 when Glenwood Springs Community Center gets the party started early. Don’t miss out on toasting New Year’s Eve in Glenwood Springs, where the whole family can celebrate together. 

Glenwood Springs Community Center 

At the center’s Noon Year’s Eve party on Dec. 28, 12-3 p.m., an aerialist, ice sculptor, stilt walkers, Sventastic the one-man circus show, magicians, face-painting fairies, bounce houses and a photo booth are among the fun. Also enjoy ice skating, swimming and the climbing wall, and don’t miss watching the balloon drop and the chance to submit a New Year’s resolution for a chance to win prizes. The event is free and open to the public. 

Glenwood Hot Springs Resort 

On Dec. 31, soak in the geothermal natural hot springs all day and into the New Year if you wish. There are even more pools to enjoy at Glenwood Hot Springs Resort this year with the opening of Yampah Mineral Baths in May. These five spacious pools of varying temperatures in include two cold contrast therapy baths. Give them a try before heading back into one of the warmer mineral hot springs pools, you’ll feel reinvigorated. There also is a cozy fireplace to gather around and reminisce about the year. 

The resort has a wide range of family-friendly pool activities planned from 7 p.m. until midnight, and the pool will stay open until 1 a.m. There is a drawing for a free pool pass after the ball drops and prizes for the competitions in three age categories: 6-10; 11-15; 16 and over. New Year’s Eve activities are free to all paid pool guests.

7:00 p.m. – Handstand contest 

7:30 p.m. – Ping-pong scramble 

8:00 p.m. – Drive, trick or splash contest 

8:30 p.m. – Duck relay 

9:00 p.m. – Noodle relay 

9:30 p.m. – Innertube basket toss 

10:00 p.m. – Alligator wrestling 

10:30 p.m. – Paddle tug-of-war 

11:00-11:45 p.m. – Party favors distributed 

11:55 p.m. – Countdown to 2025 

1:00 a.m. – Pool closes 

Also, a special New Year’s Eve menu will be available from 5 – 11 p.m. at the poolside Grill. The menu includes pizza by the slice, hot dogs, chili dogs, bowls of chili, pretzels and cheese, nachos, desserts, warm beverages, and soft drinks. Alcohol will not be served. 

For the ultimate celebration, book an overnight stay at the Lodge at Glenwood Hot Springs and simply walk across the street for a great night’s sleep and a hot, made-to-order complimentary breakfast at the poolside Grill. Another soak in the geothermal hot springs pool in the morning also is a great way to start 2025. 

Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park 

Head up the Glenwood Gondola to the only mountaintop theme park in the U.S. for Winter on the Mountain. For the holidays, Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park transforms into a winter wonderland with thousands of lights, seasonal décor and music played by talented local musicians. On New Year’s Eve, Hugh Phillips will perform from 4:30-7:30 p.m., and the park will be open from 10 a.m.-9 p.m.. 

Glenwood Vaudeville Revue 

Glenwood Vaudeville Revue is a two-hour, family fun dinner theater show with professional talent performing a variety of comedy skits, jokes, high-energy dance numbers, songs, and original comedic presentations that are guaranteed to entertain. On New Year’s Eve there are 4:30 and 9 p.m. shows to choose from, and the theatre will be decked out with balloons, streamers, and other festive decor. A ticket includes a complimentary glass of champagne or sparkling cider and party favors for toasts at 8 p.m. and midnight. Other beverages and food items are a la carte, with meals prepared by many of the Glenwood Springs’ top restaurants.
