Source Spring & Drinking Spring: The Ute people were among the earliest discoverers of this therapeutic hot spring in Glenwood Springs and named it Yampah, meaning “big medicine.” Yampah Source Spring and the resort’s drinking spring are both located within the Yampah Mineral Baths area and have been enhanced with landscaping and signage. Pool guests are invited to fill their water bottles and sample the water from the drinking spring. There is no additional fee to use Yampah Mineral Baths.

Sopris Splash Zone: Located at the west end of the pool, this family-friendly aquatic park opened in 2019 and consists of three distinct areas: Shoshone Chutes, Grand Fountain that transitions to a splash pad during the day, and a pool for younger kids.

The name Sopris Splash Zone honors the memory of Captain Richard Sopris who explored the area around Glenwood Springs in 1860. He later became the mayor of Denver, Colorado. Mt. Sopris, the majestic peak south of Glenwood Springs, is named for him. There is no additional fee to use Sopris Splash Zone.

Shoshone Chutes: Shoshone Chutes can be navigated on either one- or two-person tubes and is designed to be experienced with friends and family; young children can experience the river with an older sibling or adult. The river ride is approximately 700 feet long with a total run time of about 2.5 to 3 minutes. The walls and landscaping of Shoshone Chutes are designed to emulate the natural Colorado landscape, some have likened it to the rock formations seen while rafting in Glenwood Canyon.

Children’s Pool: The Sopris Splash Zone pool is geared toward younger kids. The Hanging Lake waterfalls that children can play under and walk behind cascade into a zero-depth-entry pool and are named after the famed falls and hiking trail in Glenwood Canyon. Other features include three kiddie slides, interactive aquatic play features, and another zero-depth wading pool for youngsters that is shaded by a large pergola.

Grand Fountain: By day, the Grand Fountain is a fun splash pad that shoots water seven feet in the air. At night, it becomes an illuminated show fountain with sprays of water that reach heights of 17 feet and can be seen by pool-goers and people strolling across the pedestrian bridge that connects Sixth Street to downtown. The fountain honors both the town’s and resorts history. The Colorado River was originally called the Grand, which is also the name of Glenwood’s main street. When the pool opened in 1888, it featured a large fountain.
