About the HOTEL 1888

If staying just steps from geothermal hot springs soaking sounds like a dream come true, Hotel 1888 at Glenwood Hot Springs Resort delivers. Opened on June 12, 2025, within the resort’s historic Stone Bath House, Hotel 1888 features 16 luxury guest rooms, including the Silver Kings Suite and Suite 1888.

Each guest room has distinct architectural details, high ceilings, large windows and modern, upscale bathrooms. The two suites provide additional room to relax and water views. The Silver Kings Suite has a private balcony that overlooks the Grand Pool, while the 1888 Suite features an original fireplace and big windows that frame the Colorado River and downtown streetscapes. A rich blue paint color, tasteful patterned wallpaper and artwork that features artifacts from the property are a nod to the rich history of the resort, which opened on July 4, 1888.

Included in an Overnight Stay

Hotel 1888 guests are invited to relax in European-style elegance with complimentary breakfast in the 1888 Bistro, unlimited soaking in the mineral hot springs pools during business hours, and access to the full-service Athletic Club, also located in the Stone Bath House.

Stone Bath House History

Designed by Austrian architect Theodore von Rosenberg, the Stone Bath House was constructed at a cost of $100,000 using sandstone from the Peach Blow Quarry that was located along the Frying Pan River near Basalt.

In the early days, the Stone Bath House featured soaking tubs, a ladies’ parlor, a physician’s office, casino, and smoking and reading rooms. As word spread about the new resort, aristocrats, political leaders, movie stars and spiritual believers ventured to Glenwood Springs from around the globe.
