Iconic Colorado attraction introduces an innovative five-pool experience
Glenwood Springs, Colorado (May 24, 2024) – The world’s largest hot springs pool at historic Glenwood Hot Springs Resort is adding more ways to relax and soak with the exciting introduction of Yampah Mineral Baths on the east end of the pool. Yampah Mineral Baths is opening for the first time today and features five spacious new pools filled with pure mineral-rich water from the on-site Yampah Source Spring, a shade pergola, and an outdoor lounging area with a fireplace.
Yampah Mineral Baths was designed for all ages to enjoy throughout the day and transitions to adults only at 5 p.m. The five pools of varying temperatures are part of a thoughtful design that includes waterfalls, infinity edges and a natural stone grotto. The new pools range in temperature from 52° to °60F in the Inhale cold water therapy pool to 100° to 104°F in the warmer Cascade Waters. Cold plunging has been known to help with workout recovery, boost immunity, decrease inflammation, improve mood and increase metabolism.
The Ute people were some of the earliest discoverers of this therapeutic hot spring and named it Yampah, meaning “big medicine.” Yampah Source Spring provides Glenwood Hot Springs Resort with a continuous flow of 122°F mineral-laden water at the rate of 3.5 million gallons of water per day. The water is used not only to fill Yampah Mineral Baths and the historic Grand Pool and Therapy Pool but also to heat the resort’s 107-room lodge and historic bath house, clear sidewalks and pool decks of ice and snow, and heat domestic water supplies for showers, the athletic club, on-site laundry facility and more.
“We are thrilled to unveil Yampah Mineral Baths just in time for the summer season. This new area is designed to be a meditative place to soak in the warm geothermal waters, try out cold contrast therapy, and relax in a beautiful mountain environment,” says Kevin Flohr, president and CEO of Glenwood Hot Springs Resort. “With these new pools, the resort now offers a complete end-to-end water experience, with a quieter and more refined option in Yampah Mineral Baths on the east end, the two historic pools in the center, and the family zone on the west end. You can spend a whole day here with friends and family, and everyone can find their corner to enjoy or sample the various areas.”
There is no extra cost to enjoy the new Yampah Mineral Baths. All overnight stays at the Lodge at Glenwood Hot Springs Resort and pool passes provide access to all open pools. No pool reservations are needed, and guests can come and go as they please throughout the day to fully enjoy the resort and to explore trails, rivers, shops, restaurants and all the Glenwood Springs area offers.
Visit www.hotspringspool.com for more information about the resort, which includes the pools, 107-room lodge, full-service athletic club, shop, and poolside Grill and snack bar. During summer, Red Brick Eats offers additional food and beverage options on the west end of the pool.
From May 24 – Sept. 2, the pool transitions to extended summer hours, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sopris Splash Zone will be open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
