Glenwood Hot Springs Resort opening new poolside boutique hotel on June 12
Glenwood Springs, Colorado (April 18, 2025) – If staying just steps from geothermal hot springs bliss sounds like a dream come true, Glenwood Hot Springs Resort is prepared to deliver with the opening of Hotel 1888 on June 12. Surrounded by the mountain landscape of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, Hotel 1888 is located within the resort’s historic Stone Bath House and features 16 luxury guest rooms, including the Silver Kings Suite and Suite 1888. Reservations for Hotel 1888 are currently being accepted.
Each guest room has distinct architectural details, high ceilings, large windows and modern, upscale bathrooms. The two suites provide additional room to relax and water views. The Silver Kings Suite has a private balcony that overlooks the Grand Pool, while the 1888 Suite features an original fireplace and big windows that frame the Colorado River and downtown streetscapes. A rich blue paint color, tasteful patterned wallpaper and artwork that features artifacts from the resort are a nod to the rich history of the resort, which opened on July 4, 1888.
Hotel 1888 guests are invited to relax in European-style elegance with complimentary breakfast in the 1888 Bistro, unlimited soaking in the mineral hot springs pools during business hours, and access to the full-service Athletic Club, also located in the Stone Bath House.

Designed by Austrian architect Theodore von Rosenberg, the bath house was constructed at a cost of $100,000 using sandstone from the Peach Blow Quarry that was located along the Frying Pan River near Basalt. In the early days, the Stone Bath House featured soaking tubs, a ladies’ parlor, a physician’s office, casino, and smoking and reading rooms. As word spread about the new resort, aristocrats, political leaders, movie stars and spiritual believers ventured to Glenwood Springs from around the globe.
Hotel 1888 isn’t the only lodging news at Glenwood Hot Springs Resort. A total refresh of all 107 guest rooms and suites at the Lodge at Glenwood Hot Springs Resort wrapped up in March. The light-filled rooms have been updated with premium cotton linens with elegant details, artwork that evokes the heritage of the resort, and a mountain modern look that features touches of wood, brass and a clean and calming color scheme of gray, black, white and taupe. New lighting and elegant bathroom finishes complete the luxurious look.
Also, Yampah Mineral Baths was introduced last May and features five spacious pools of varying temperatures, a shade pergola and an outdoor fireplace. Two of the five are cold plunge pools, which give pool-goers the chance to experience the benefits of contrast therapy. Located on the east end of the world’s largest hot springs pool, all ages are invited to enjoy Yampah Mineral Baths until 5 p.m., when the area becomes adults only.
The natural mineral hot springs water that has been rejuvenating mind, body and spirit for decades comes directly from the on-site Yampah Source Spring, which produces 3.5 million gallons a day. The pools are open to day guests and overnight guests from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with hours expanding to 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. from Memorial Day through Labor Day. No reservations are required to use the pools, there are no times limits, and guests can come and go all day long as they please.
