Hotel 1888, the newest hotel in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, also is rich in tradition. The boutique hotel set to launch on June 12, 2025, is located within the historic Stone Bath House at Glenwood Hot Springs Resort. The Stone Bath House is situated alongside the world’s largest hot springs pool, the Grand Pool, which is one of seven hot springs pools at the resort. Hotel 1888’s name comes from the fact that the resort opened to great fanfare on July 4, 1888, a date that remains a day of celebration at the pools with games and entertainment and in the community.
When guests stay in one of Hotel 1888’s 16 luxury guest rooms, including two high-end suites, they immediately will catch a glimpse of the rich heritage of this iconic Colorado attraction. Architectural details are a focal point of Hotel 1888’s guest accommodations, the lobby and Bistro 1888, and the artwork throughout features collected artifacts, postcards and photos, with several sourced from the collections of the Glenwood Springs Historical Society and Denver Public Library.
The 1888 Suite features an original fireplace that echoes back to a time when the Stone Bath House featured a billiard parlor and casino, reading room, physician’s office, smoking room, coffee kitchen, and 42 interior Roman Baths and dressing rooms (12 in the ladies’ wing and 30 in the gentlemen’s wing). Guests enjoyed the luxury of electric lighting, private call bells that rang bath house attendants, and hot and cold running water inside the building. The building was designed by Austrian architect Theodore von Rosenberg and constructed using sandstone from the Peach Blow Quarry located along the Frying Pan River near Basalt.
Hotel 1888 is ideal for relaxing getaways for couples and friends, wedding groups, executive and board retreats, and incentive trips. Guests are invited to relax in European-style elegance with complimentary breakfast in the 1888 Bistro, unlimited soaking in the seven mineral hot springs pools during business hours, and access to the full-service Athletic Club, also located in the Stone Bath House.
Introduced last May, Yampah Mineral Baths is a perfect complement to Hotel 1888. Located on the east end of the resort’s pool complex, Yampah Mineral Baths features five spacious pools—including two cold plunge pools, waterfalls, a grotto, fireplace and more—and becomes adults only at 5 p.m.

The family-friendly Lodge at Glenwood Hot Springs Resort, located across the street from the pool on Sixth Street, joins Hotel 1888 in offering the ultimate in comfort. A total refresh of all 107 Lodge guest rooms and suites wrapped up in March. The light-filled rooms have been updated with premium linens, artwork that reflects the heritage of the resort, a mountain modern look, and new lighting and bathroom finishes. Overnight guests of the Lodge are treated to complimentary, made-to-order hot breakfast and unlimited access to the hot springs during business hours.
