For the fifth year, hot springs fans, athletic club members, visitors and locals were invited to submit love letters to Glenwood Hot Springs Resort as part of a monthlong celebration of Valentine’s Day. Resort staff placed a valentine “mailbox” in the pool lobby—much like the decorated shoeboxes and paper sacks we all enjoyed as kids—and waited hopefully for visitors to drop in sweet valentines to the world’s largest hot springs pool. Being beautifully historic yet, yet current with the times, love letters also could be submitted online.
Many of the record number of 266 love letters submitted shared fond memories built with family and friends over the years, as well as appreciation for the 15 minerals and soothing properties of the hot springs water. Thirteen lucky winners were announced on Feb. 21st. The grand prize was an annual pool pass, while the second and third place winners received $50 resort gift cards. The authors of 10 more love letters won either a one-day pass or a $25 resort gift card.
“Thank you to everyone who participated in our 2025 Love Letter contest. Your heartfelt words have painted a beautiful portrait of what Glenwood Hot Springs Resort means to so many—whether it’s peaceful moments gliding through warm waters, time-honored family traditions, or the joy of introducing a new generation to the magic of the pool,” says Resort Sales Manager Kimberly Marcum.
“From snowflakes falling as you swim to cherished reunions, childhood memories and healing soaks, your stories remind us that Glenwood Hot Springs is more than just a destination—it’s a place of connection, love, and legacy,” she says. “Each letter was a heartfelt tribute to the timeless experiences created here, and we are honored to be a part of your stories.”
Here are a few of the amazing winning entries.
Giant cold snowflakes are tickling the skin on my face as I backstroke across the lap lane.
The vapor is swirling around my head and music is filling my senses from my SwiMP3.
I am moving through the water gracefully and I breath deep, in and out in a meditative rhythm,
pulling and gliding through the warm therapeutic water. This is LOVE.

I’m from Germany originally, living in the USA since 2000. We came to Glenwood Springs a couple of times before that, and that’s how this love for the pool started. The first time, it was a cold November day and I thought I would freeze, but the water was so nice. I didn’t want to leave. Every time I come here, I feel the same: a love that keeps giving, soothing my body and soul. Aching bones and muscles disappear. Such a great feeling. Love, Love You Glenwood Hot Springs Pool.

We love tradition at the hot springs. Twenty-five years ago, when our children were young, the dreaded bath time would arrive before bedtime. We got in the tradition of going to the hot springs to let the kids swim, play and shower before bed. They were wiped out and always slept great. Now, we have our first grandchild, and the tradition will live on. Velma loves swimming at the hot springs. We always loved those evenings with the kids and the hot springs pass is an affordable way for us to drop in often.

To Our Dearest Glenwood Hot Springs: I am writing to express my deep affection and gratitude for the wonderful experiences you have given us. From the moment we first set foot in your warm, inviting waters, we knew we had found a special place. I remember how gentle your waters were to me as a child when my toes hit the water many moons ago. Swimming in your soothing pools has become one of our favorite activities, a cherished escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
One of our most treasured memories is from last September when we brought our daughter, Norah, to you for her first swim at just 6 months old. Watching her eyes light up with joy as she splashed in the water for the first time is a moment we will never forget. Your gentle embrace made her feel safe and happy, and it was a beautiful experience for our family.
Thank you, Glenwood Hot springs, for providing us with such precious memories and a place where we can always find comfort and joy. You are a deep part of our family traditions for generations. We look forward to many more swims and special moments with you.
– With love and gratitude, Norah, Savannah & Isaiah Maldonado
Our first time in Colorado, our first time in a hot spring—an experience we’ll never forget. Sitting in your warm embrace while snowcapped mountains stood around us felt like stepping into a dream. The crisp air, the steaming water, the laughter we shared with friends—pure magic. You weren’t just a destination; you were a moment of awe, warmth and wonder. A memory etched in our hearts forever. With love.
