Glenwood Hot Springs Resort Presents $16,000 Scholarship to Matthew Helms

Matthew Helms is the latest recipient of the Glenwood Hot Springs Resort Higher Education Scholarship. Many exceptional students from the Roaring Fork Valley submitted applications, and Helms was presented $16,000 for his college education based on demonstrated excellence as a student and an employee of Glenwood Hot Springs Resort.

For 30 years running, Glenwood Hot Springs Resort has helped young people achieve their dreams of improving their future through continued learning. The Glenwood Hot Springs Resort Higher Education Scholarship was created in 1995 to financially assist goal-oriented individuals attend accredited institutions of higher learning, including four-year colleges and universities, community colleges or trade schools. To date, Glenwood Hot Springs Resort has awarded $279,000 to deserving young people, with scholarships payable per semester over the course of four years and requiring each recipient to be a student in good standing.

Helms, son of Mark and Julie Helms of New Castle, is a senior at Glenwood Springs High School and plans to attend University of Colorado Boulder to study integrative physiology. He has excelled at advanced academics while working as a team lead lifeguard at Glenwood Hot Springs Resort and a medical assistant apprentice; playing hockey for Glenwood Grizzlies and Glenwood Springs High School Demons; and swimming for the Demon’s swim team.
