Celebrating a Year of Giving Back

Wellness Begins with Generosity

Glenwood Hot Springs Resort is committed to giving back to the community that has supported us for generations. This giving season, we proudly reflect on the organizations and events that uplift the Roaring Fork Valley and celebrate our rich heritage dating back to 1888, just three years after the founding of Glenwood Springs.

All these years later, Glenwood Hot Springs Resort remains locally owned and operated, dedicated to nourishing body and soul as an oasis of well-being. We may have the world’s largest hot springs pool, but we’re honored to be a small local business with a big heart. You can join us in helping make the Roaring Fork Valley and beyond a better place by sharing your time, skills and resources.

Holiday Generosity Doesn’t Have to Be Stressful

November and December are seasons of warmth and generosity — but they can also bring pressure. Finding the perfect gift, sifting through end-of-year giving requests from nonprofit organizations, navigating budgets, and trying to get everything done on time can quickly sap holiday joy.

Need a last-minute idea and a reason to take a wellness break? Glenwood Hot Springs Resort has you covered. Enjoy seven geothermal hot springs pools for blissful relaxation and the health benefits of the 15 minerals in the water produced by the original, on-site Yampah Source Spring. With a day or annual pool pass, come and go as much as you please from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and explore our shop for a variety of thoughtful gifts for all ages.

Or, consider a Glenwood Hot Springs Resort gift card. Whether it’s for a family member, friend, coworker or charity, it’s a gift of relaxation, rejuvenation and connection. Gift cards are available at any amount, never expire and are valid property-wide: Pool, Shop, Lodge, Hotel 1888 and Athletic Club. You can even give an annual pool pass or an Athletic Club membership for a gift that keeps giving long after the holiday season is over.

Why Donating Is Good for You

Research shows that generosity doesn’t just help others—it actively improves your physical and mental health.

  1. Giving Increases Happiness
Studies from the University of British Columbia and Harvard Business School consistently show that spending money on others boosts happiness more than spending on oneself. Acts of generosity activate the brain’s “reward center,” releasing dopamine and endorphins, which are our natural feel-good chemicals.
  2. Giving Reduces Stress and May Increase Longevity
Research published in Psychological Science found that helping others can reduce the negative health effects of stress. People who regularly offer assistance—whether emotional support, errands or small acts of kindness—show lower blood pressure and improved overall health outcomes. Over time, this may even contribute to longer life expectancy.
  3. Giving Strengthens Social Connection
Humans are wired for connection. Generosity strengthens relationships, builds trust and creates a sense of belonging, all of which support mental and emotional well-being. The Cleveland Clinic also notes that giving increases the production of oxytocin, the “love hormone,” which fosters social bonding and reduces anxiety.
  4. Giving Expands Your Sense of Abundance
Research shared in Psychology Today describes generosity as “expansive energy.” Giving — without jeopardizing your budget — reinforces a mindset of abundance instead of scarcity. The holidays are the perfect time to practice this mindset by sharing what you can, whether time, money, or simply a listening ear.

Colorado Gives Day: A Simple Way to Support Local Nonprofits

Colorado Gives Foundation created ColoradoGives.org, a year-round giving platform that makes it easy for individuals and businesses to support nonprofits throughout the state. Many organizations supported by Glenwood Hot Springs Resort can be found there, and you can search by location or cause.

All donations made online now through December 9, 2025, count toward Colorado Gives Day and the statewide $1 million+ Incentive Fund that amplifies the impact of every contribution.

Give From the Heart — All Season Long

Celebrate the holidays by supporting causes and thanking people who warm your heart. Whether you donate, volunteer or simply offer a moment of kindness, giving is one of the most powerful ways to nourish your own sense of wellness and help our community thrive.
