I close my eyes more than a thousand miles away, Here in Alaska & remember each & every stay.
My earliest memory of the enchanted Glenwood pool, Was my grandmother, so loving and never cruel, Teaching me to float & to let go of fear To feel the warm water tickling my ears. I remember the high diving board far away in the distance, Off I finally jumped with my Dad and his persistence. Teaching me to be courageous and brave, Landing with a fun splash & now I craved To dive and jump and play again! Until the afternoon lighting & rain began.
I remember the sunshine, the ice cream, The big blue sky like it was a dream. The sulfurous smell of the waters is offensive to some, But to me it brings joy and hope of the good times to come. How I dreamed of sharing this magic with my daughter, And as soon as we could we ventured to Those healing waters. At the historic Glenwood Hot Springs Resort I taught my daughter to swim & to support, The love of swimming her whole life long, And to always return to the place she belongs! I open my eyes and see the Alaskan snow, My desire to feel the liquid silk now only grows.
I can’t wait for my next hot springs adventure, And here’s to hoping I don’t loose my dentures! In love with GHSR, Elaine:-)
