Sunset Sounds: New Tuesday Night Music Series Begins at Glenwood Hot Springs

Glenwood Hot Springs is the location of Glenwood Springs’ newest outdoor music venue. Visitors are invited to soak in the sounds from 6 to 9 p.m. every Tuesday night through Labor Day.

Vid Weatherwax Glenwood Springs, Colo. (July 1, 2016) – Glenwood Hot Springs will be hosting Sunset Sounds, a new music series every Tuesday evening, from 6 to 9 p.m., through Labor Day. The weekly summer concert series will feature local performers and bands playing a variety of musical genres, from classic and roll to blues and soul. The kick-off concert is scheduled for Tuesday, July 5, and will feature singer, songwriter Vid Weatherwax.

The Sunset Sounds Series is Glenwood’s newest outdoor summer music venue. Visitors and locals are invited to swim and soak up the sounds on Tuesday evenings as the sun sets over Red Mountain. The stage will be set up on the north side, at about the midway point of the big pool. Visitors pay the reduced 6 p.m. admission price of $16, rather than the full-day rate, and can either partake of the mineral hot springs or just sit back and enjoy the sounds from the deck.

“We are thrilled to be adding music to our repertoire of offerings,” said Jeremy Gilley, Director of Sales and Revenue for Glenwood Hot Springs and Spa of the Rockies. “Historically, Glenwood Hot Springs has hosted big bands and other musical groups over the years. It’s a great tradition to revive and one we hope our guests will enjoy all summer long.”

Being the first year for the series, the resort is still working out the details in booking musical acts, but look for ads in local media outlets as well as on the Glenwood Hot Springs website for upcoming performers. Local star, Vid Weatherwax has committed to playing several Tuesday evenings. According to his bio, Weatherwax is the product of the Detroit music scene and brings with him a strong R&B, jazz and soul sensibility. Weatherwax defines himself as a blue collar, journeyman pianist, arranger, songwriter and singer.

Concert goers, please remember to park in Lot A at 152 W. Sixth Street, located just west of Tequila’s Restaurant, and take the resort’s Hot Springs Hopper shuttle to the pool’s main entrance. The shuttle provides convenient, continuous door-to-door service until 10:30 p.m.
