The Colorado Tourism Office (CTO) honored Trish Pickett and 11 others as part of National Travel and Tourism Week. Each person recognized as an Exceptional Frontline Tourism Worker has a history of going the distance to ensure that visitors have the best vacation possible in Colorado.

“One of the biggest differences between a good vacation and a great vacation is the experience with the people you meet along the way,” said Cathy Ritter, director of the Colorado Tourism Office. “Again and again, our research reaffirms that one of our visitors’ favorite things about visiting Colorado is their encounters with Coloradans. The workers we are honoring this week all go above and beyond to make sure the people they encounter go back home with wonderful memories.”

This year, Trish Pickett, Lead Cashier at Glenwood Hot Springs, was named a 2017 Exceptional Frontline Tourism Worker. “We couldn’t be more proud of Trish,” said Kjell Mitchell, President and CEO of Glenwood Hot Springs. “She is an employee who consistently receives praise from our guests.” Pickett is on an award-winning streak; she was also the recent recipient of the Glenwood Hot Springs’ Devereux Award.

Pickett was nominated for the CTO award by Jeremy Gilley, Director of Sales and Revenue for Glenwood Hot Springs and Spa of the Rockies. “Trish was the first person I thought of when I saw the nomination form,” said Gilley. “She takes a genuine interest in her customers whether they are locals that come to swim and soak every day or groups that visit annually like her favorite, the National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic.  She has an amazing knack for remembering people and connecting with them.”

The CTO honored Trish as part of the Discover Colorado Roadshow which stopped at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park on May 12. Trish and the other finalists are also showcased online at Colorado.com and will be included in an upcoming tourism industry newsletter.Trish Pickett_Cathy Ritter

In addition to recognizing exceptional tourism employees, the CTO shared insights from its newly published Colorado Tourism Roadmap which outlines approaches to maximize the benefit of tourism by driving increased traveler spending, while embracing new strategies to disperse visitors to less-traveled destinations.
