Health and Wellness Getaways in Colorado

If you are looking for a health and wellness getaway in Colorado that also includes a healthy dose of fun, look no further than Glenwood Springs. The community has long been a place to relax, recharge and recreate with Glenwood Hot Springs Resort opening on July 4, 1888, and Sunlight Mountain Resort ski area launching in 1966.

Fitness & Hot Springs Soaking

At Glenwood Hot Springs Resort, combine the supercharged health benefits of mineral hot springs water with the benefits of working out in the modern, full-service Athletic Club located in the beautiful sandstone bathhouse.

At the world’s largest natural hot springs pool, there are lap lanes for swimming, lessons to improve your swim strokes, plenty of space for hot springs soaking to soothe and energize muscles, and a popular water class known as H2O Fit.

H2O Fit is just one of a full list of Athletic Club classes to choose from six days a week, with a monthly schedule available to view online. Classes on any given week range from tai chi, sunrise yoga and Pilates Breathe Balance & Flow to Cycling AM, Functional Fitness, TRX and more. Experienced instructors lead all classes, which are offered at no extra cost to annual pass and day pass holders with a few exceptions like Pilates Reformer semi-private classes.

Some of the resort’s biggest fans happen to be area residents, who spoke loudly with their votes during the 2023 Locals’ Choice Awards sponsored by the Post Independent newspaper. Three of the awards went to Glenwood Hot Springs Resort: Best Attraction, Best Gym or Fitness Studio, and Best Yoga Studio.

In addition to studios for yoga, cycling, Pilates and other classes, the Athletic Club has weights and state-of-the-art gym equipment spread throughout the facility that has abundant windows with pool and mountain views. Athletic Club members and day-pass guests also have access to comfortable locker rooms with amenities like hair dryers and towel service; a private pool sundeck; three handball and racquetball courts; and a wet lounge complete with a steam room, sauna and hot tub.
